I had a 2015 K1600 GTL and traded for a Grand America. The Grand America has speed limitations of about 105. BMW also recommends a speed of 80 miles per hour if the top case is loaded. The top case can not be taken off. At 80 MPH I can feel some instability. The passenger on the Grand America does sit lower than the GTL. It is easier with a passenger. The Grand America does not come with arm rest. My girlfriend demanded them and it cost $1500 to get them. I do like the upgraded features, foot rest, reverse assist and others. The Grand America is the K1600 Bagger with just a few extras.

If you regularly carry a passenger I would take a look at the GTL. The Grand America has some issues that should be addressed by BMW at some point.

Russell,

There are reports that the GA is limited to a top speed of 101 mph.  Now that may be fast enough for you (and in 95% of cases it is for me), but considering the GTL is computer locked to 140 mph and the GT to 160 mph - both essentially the same bike - you may want to take that into consideration.

If you visit the K1600 forum at (https://www.k1600forum.com/), you'll see lots of info there.

Both GTL and GT are equally fast as heck!! But it is just me 99.9% of the time and the instability bothers me.. and the Grand America I’m not so sure about it seems huge

I was at Gulfcoast BMW and Jim there confirmed that the speed was governed to 101. My buddy rode one on a demo day and he said he had it up to 120.

Are you considering that BMW sets their speed about 10% fast as compared to GPS? Also, my 05 'LT' was confirmed fast by the Texas State Highway Patrol...
John Hall
10% on 101 would be 110. He said it was still pulling at 120. It could be the demo fleet isn't governed at 101. I questioned him twice about it. He said it was 120 and pulling.
