I had mentioned during the Club meeting minutes that I caught a nail in the

rear tire of my K16 GTL. I just contacted the BMW MOA folks to get the ball

rolling, and he clarified that the process has changed (for the better). I'll

schedule a tire change next week when I have time, but the good news is

the bmwmoa.org website says they cover up to $400 now for the tire and

labor. Sweet!

I have to document it and submit pictures after getting it repaired, but the

pre-approval hoops I went through back in 2020 are gone.

I'll keep you all informed how it goes, but with the Platinum coverage I have

for up to two tires and towing, and the Anonymous book, it's sure a deal

I recommend we all carry. I only have 6,184 miles on these tires from

10/19/2022. The last renewal on July 12 took advantage of early renewal

discounts, so it was only $119 this year.

My experience with the MOA Platinum Membership was not so good. After Hurricane Ike, I dropped my bike on Arkansas 14 at the Buffalo river crossing and managed to get a cell signal to call where I was told flatly that "I can't help you" and hung up.

This is why I have opted for AAA ever sense.

I understand. In 2020 I was attempting my first IronButt 1500 Gold, and caught

a nail near Boerne Texas on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily, the local BMW dealer

had the tire and the time to get it changed before they closed. I turned around

and made it home at 2am.

Later, I remembered the MOA insurance and called them Monday morning, only

to be turned down for not getting a pre-approval before the tire was replaced.

After complaining to the MOA directly, I was eventually approved for the refund

of $250. The MOA took over the program from the insurance folks in 2024 per

the description in the bmwmoa.org site, so we'll see how this goes.
