BMW Club Of Houston - Club Meeting - Sat. 6/13/202...

-----------------------------------------------------

Club Meeting Minutes from 6/13/2026 at Wolfsmiths

-----------------------------------------------------

o I counted 10 participants in the Club meeting conducted

at Wolfsmiths today, which is not unexpected as we had a

few members attending the MOA Rally in Vermont.

o Services for Joe Knisel were held on June 19th at St.

Christopher's Episcopal Church in Houston. We had 8 or 9

club representatives in attendance. Several members

completed the reassembly of his BMW as we was preparing

to run up to the MOA Rally. The BMW was on display at the

Church. The Club also donated money for five trees to be

planted in his name.

o I am planning a Ride to Eat (RTE) for Saturday July 18th,

that meets at the Bon Appetit Cafe in Nassau Bay (18027

Point Lookout Drive, Houston) around 8:30am for breakfast.

Then we take about a one-hour ride down NASA One into the

Kemah Boardwalk, down Todville Road in Seabrook, up Port

Road and wind through Clear Lake to reach the LONE STAR

FLIGHT MUSEUM for a self-guided tour. I need to resolve

two minor issues before we post it.

o roadguardians.org shows a Basic 100 Class being offered

in McAllen Texas on 8/1, and Boerne Texas on 10/3. Cost is

$50 and is only on that Saturday. Nothing more local so far.

o BMW Car Club and our BMW Motorcycle club will once again

have a combined gathering of the two clubs at the BMW Car

Dealership in Katy on Sunday, October 11th. Ride your

Classic bikes if possible.

o Safety on Two Wheels is offering Advanced Street

Training and Offroad courses. See the website

safetyontwowheels.org

o Our 2026 Annual Club Rally at the Oak Thicket Park in

Lake Fayette is scheduled for October 30 - November 1.

These dates include the daylight savings weekend. The

Club has reserved two cabins for this year, and we are

still discussing how to divvy them up. Some of us plan

to stay at the Best Western in La Grange, just a few

minutes down the road. Planning for our Club's 60th

Year Anniversary continues.

o Wild West Motoplex in Katy will have the BMW Demo truck

onsite 8/14-8/15. Prior registration for rides is required.

o Bike Services are available from ....

o MPH Cycles in Hempstead. Call 281-647-6557 for Mike

Haven and Davy Parsons, or check www.mphcycles.com.

o J&B Cycleworks in Conroe. Call 936-266-0300 or

check jbcycleworks.com

o Motorcycles Unlimited in Houston. Call 281-444-0545

or check motorcycles-unlimited.com

o beemerboneyard.com is where you can order parts for

BMW repairs/mods. 973-775-3495

o Supported Activities ...

o Jerome Istin is looking for more MS150 Motorcycle

Marshall participants to start in October of 2026.

Contact him at jerome.istin@gmail.com.

o Jerry Matson coordinated the IRONMAN Motorcycle

support group on April 18th. He was 2-3 riders

short this year, and some riders had to ride longer

than anticipated. As the IRONMAN organization i

contributes $$$$ to our Club, we need to step up

and fully support this event for Jerry.

o A question about availability of Schuberth C5 helmets

was raised as supply is dwindling. I found that a

Schuberth C5 ANC was recently released that had Active

Noise Cancelling (ANC) built into the helmet. US Retail

prices appear to be $1,449 (Yikes).

o Another question was raised to see if anyone was using

the EKON RoadArmor Riding Pants (ekontravel.com). I have

ordered a pair and will provide a product report, but so

far they have delayed shipping due to supply issues (??).

I usually wear a set of Bohn Armor under my jeans, but it

won't help with the slide.

o I've also ordered a set of ZOUND Earplugs (21dB) to

replace ones I've always purchased from "The Fit Life"

(23dB), as Amazon had dropped them. Finally found an

online source for TFL, but I'll report on how ZOUND

performs as they are currently less expensive.

o I did a show-n-tell with a new Craftsman Portable air

compressor that utilizes a lithium battery. Lowes has

it for $29.98 through the end of July. It's performed

well and will push up to 150 PSI. Battery life is better

than the ad shows. Enter the setting, and it stops right

on the value.

o Action Items:

o Start a thread for those interested in utilizing the

two camping cabins we have reserved for the Club Rally

at Lake Fayette starting October 30.

o Resolve issues and post the RTE for July 18th. July

4 is Independence day, and July 11 is the next meeting.

o Next Club meeting will be at WOLFSMITHS on 7/11/2026,

and it starts at 8AM again per Fernando!

Fernando will follow up with any more details on Joe Knisel's services

set for next Friday, 6/19 at 1pm. Current weather forcast is 61% chance

of Thunderstorms.
