Google Chrome and "NOT SECURE" warnings

Quick take:

  • Changes in Google Chrome may erroneously indicate that the BMW Club website is "Not Secure". We have not been "hacked" and there is no cause for concern.

Google recently announced that, as of Chrome version 68, which will be shipped on July 16th, 2018, all website pages that are displayed using http:// will be flagged with a “NOT SECURE” warning. Google is taking this action to protect users who may not fully understand Internet security (almost everyone!) and especially what they are looking at as they jump from website to website. Google Chrome is used for almost 60% of web requests and many people expect that Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge will eventually follow along.

It is possible when you first access our public website at http://bmwclubofhouston.com/, you may see this "NOT SECURE" message. As soon as you log in, you are switched to the members-only secure website at https://bmwclub.clubexpress.com/ (notice the "https"). Please be assured that our site is safe and there is no cause for concern. The issue should be fixed in a couple of weeks and you should no longer see the message.

Note that if you follow links to external sites, we are not responsible for possible security issues elsewhere.
