Meeting Reminder for Thursday, Jan 10, at 7 pm
Author Last Post
Welcome to 2019!!

Meeting - Our scheduled presenter this month is world traveler Radim Cejnar. He traveled the world for 4 years and is going to tell us about his adventures in 2 parts. See his poster below or attached.

North Houston Meetup - Saturday, Jan 12, 9 am - One of my goals this year is to start having "meetups" in North Houston. There are many people who live around The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring, Montgomery, Magnolia, etc. who just can't make it waaaaay down south to our club meetings on Thursday evening. So I am going to try something new - coffee and maybe some snacks on a Saturday morning. The Woodlands Premium Motorcycles dealership has graciously offered to provide coffee and snacks in the BMW showroom this coming Saturday, Jan 12, at 9 am. No agenda, no rides, just meeting friends with similar interests. Then we'll see where it goes from there.

Houston is SO big I'm sure there are other areas (south? west?) where people might like to meet casually on a regular basis. Did you know a small group has met downtown on Sundays for over 15 years?? If you are interested let me know and let's set something up. We don't have to meet just on Thursday once a month.

Goals and Events For 2019

Swap Meet - Some other ideas I would like to try this year is to have one or more "swap meets." The idea would be to bring the old, spare parts, gear, and random motorcycle junk that has been hanging around your garage for years and see if someone else can use it, and in the process maybe get a few bucks. This was done in the past for a while and died off. More later in a separate email.

Adventure Training

Member John Wroth went to Bill Dragoo's Adventure Rider Training (DART) and gave us a presentation last Feb or Mar. Bill has offered to come down to Houston and provide some training here if there are enough people interested. He has some fixed costs (gas, food, lodging, time) to cover so the more people who sign up the less expensive it will be. We are targeting February. I will send a separate sign-up list or survey soon.

Longer Club Rides

Working with our RideMeister we might organize some longer club rides. Some ideas are going back to Big Bend, riding around Arkansas again, the Barber Sports Museum, and going back to Newman's Castle in Bellville. Anyone have any other suggestions?

As always, the meeting will be at the Spaghetti Western Italian Restaurant at 1608 Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX (Google Map). The formal meeting starts at 7 pm but most people arrive around 6 to have some dinner and socialize.
