Pic a top case?
Author Last Post
Thanks for the replys. Gulf Coast was unable to get me a key. I'll try Rene's suggestion.
John,
This guy pulled the cylinder using piano wire but I did it with a paper clip. I just fashioned the paper clip just as he describes. Took longer finding a paper clip that it did to get the cylinder out. Don't rush and follow his directions on pulling back out.

John,

A couple of issues.  There is no mechanical lock that can't be picked, though it may be difficult to find someone who knows how to do that.  I've searched / read through the K1600 forum and the consensus there is drill baby, drill (carefully).

However, what may be an alternative is to see if you can get a replacement valet key (the plastic one) from the dealer.  You'll need the details on the old GT, but the valet key is all you need to safely unlock it.

Yep don't drill it out. I was able to do mine with a paperclip
Good rainy morning fellas.

Anyone know how to pic a top case for a bmw? I have one from my old K1600GT that I sold. I don't have a key for this top case as it was keyed to the K1600GT and I only had one key for the bike. I took it to a locksmith but they were unwilling to drill the lock out. When google searching it some say it can be done others say it can't. The new BMW was purchased at Gulf Coast BMW and the techs in the back said it couldn't be done. I've seen videos of it being done so I'm thinking it can be done. Just wondering if anyone had any experience doing this.
