Club History

In the Spring of 1966, a group of seven BMW motorcycle owners got together and talked about forming a club. Only a dozen or so BMW motorcycles existed in the Houston area at that time, and the owners wanted to form an organization that would support their interests in riding. They also wanted to share their enthusiasm and love of BMW motorcycles. The BMW Club of Houston holds Charter No. 12 from the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America (MOA), and Charter No. 287 from the BMW Riders Association (RA).

The club’s mission is to connect the BMW motorcycle community in the Greater Houston area and around the state. We fulfill this mission through regular meetings, breakfasts and monthly club rides.

We have been hosting the annual South Central BMW Owners’ Reunion and Rally since 1971. We are proud that our club’s rally is older than the BMW MOA National Rally.

We also want to welcome those new to the riding community as well as those new to the marque. Our members can assist you with mechanical and technical advice, and sometimes even hands-on help! Many of our members are long distance riders, for which many BMW models are especially well suited, and can offer advice for those who want to tour the area, the region, the country or the world. We recognize that the new riders are the ones who will carry our club into the future.
